Cupcake Fonts... Yum!

I hope everyone had a very MERRY holiday!  I know I did :)  Among some of my favorite gifts-- a leather jacket from my parents, and the iPhone 5 from my husband!

While my husband and I were shopping for my Christmas present {you can't keep a secret from me!} I picked up a stylus for my iPad. It's so much easier to make fonts with the stylus instead of my pointer finger, lol.  Last night I finally put the finishing touches on some fonts that I forgot about had in the works.  Here they are!  I hope you like them :)

and

Click {HERE} to check out these fonts {and 14 more!} in my TpT shop!  You can use these fonts on whatever you like {freebies, commercial items}... just give a link back to my blog!  I'd also love to know what you think!!

I'm off to change back into pajamas, make a hot cup of cocoa, and work on some new products {Valentine's Day, anyone? hehe}.

Have a warm and cozy evening, my sweet friends!! :)

I Have a Dream {Craftivity & Printables for MLK, Jr.}

Merry Christmas Eve... Eve!  Tomorrow my husband and I are hosting our first official holiday!  We claimed Christmas Eve because we love the holiday... the tree, the lights, the presents!  Plus, it's an "easy" holiday, at least in comparison to Thanksgiving {read: we can't cook}.

I'm taking a quick ten minute break from cleaning {UGH!} to bring you my latest craftivity...  It's for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!  This craft celebrates diversity, with two kids of different ethnicities holding hands:
Girls can make two girls, and boys can make two boys... or you can mix and match!  I can't wait to make this with my kiddos when we get back to school in January! :)

*the craft/s shown above
*Dr. King's Dream -writing page
*My Dream - write & draw
*MLK, Jr. describing page
*MLK, Jr. facts page
*MLK, Jr. KWL chart
*Martin and Me! Venn Diagram for boys/girls
and all writing pages are available with primary/seconday lines :)

Here are some pics from the pack:

Snowman Ornaments!

Last year, I made snowman ornaments with my class as parent gifts.  They were a huge hit among the kiddos and their families, so I decided to make 'em again! :)  I just love them, and they are so easy to make!

Here's a peek at the final product:

If you want to make these little guys, here's what you need:
*a package or two of iridescent decorating shred
{I used 1 pkg for 22 ornaments}
*hot glue
*pipe cleaners
*pom poms
*clear plastic ornaments
*Sharpie paint pens in orange & black {not shown}
*pencil {not shown}

Pull apart enough decorating shred to fill the ornament.  You will need to stuff it into the ornament using something... I used the eraser side of a pencil.  Once filled, pop the top back on the ornament.  I actually did this part for my students because it was just quicker.

Next, have your kiddos come up one-by-one or in small groups to draw a nose, eyes, and mouth onto the snowman with the Sharpie paint pens.  You can also add student names and the year to the back of the ornament.
The last step is to hot glue the earmuffs to the ornament.  This is certainly a job for you... just let your littles choose their colors!  To make the earmuffs, cut the pipe cleaner in half and glue the ends to either side of the ornament.  Then glue the poms over the ends of the pipe cleaner.

Once completed, your little snowmen will need a place to call home {aka: a gift bag}.  I picked up some snowflake cello bags from Dollar Tree and popped the ornaments inside.  Then I attached a gift tag that reads, "I love you SNOW much!"
I added this freebie tag to my Facebook page!  Just visit my page, and click on the "Fan Freebies" tab!  You will need to like my FB page in order to access the freebie! :)

I'm off to finish my Christmas shopping!  Have a great night!

We've Been Grinched!

As I'm sure many of us did, I went to school today with a heavy heart.  But I knew I had to be strong for my little ones... and be the caring, loving teacher that they need me to be.  I've never been happier to see my sweet, smiling first graders... I love each and every one of them.

I originally had this post planned for Friday evening, but it just didn't feel right to post about it then.  So here it is now:

Friday was Grinch Day!
When my class arrived in the morning, this is what they found:
{Inspired by THIS Grinch letter}
The Grinch!!  He replaced our spelling words with green cards saying, "Happy Grinch Day!" and wrote a note {see the markers in his hands?} to explain what was going on.  The Grinch also TP'd our closet and Christmas tree with green streamers, put our reading buddies into "Grinch Jail," and framed a picture of himself:
That's not all, of course!  Our elf, Tommy, had left us red candy canes earlier in the week.  But before we could eat them, that evil Grinch licked them, and turned them all green!
{Click HERE for the freebie Grinch tags}
My littles got a KICK out of this.  They couldn't wait to eat those candy canes!  I told them that I had a feeling they tasted like green apple... ;)

The Grinch also had a few other tricks up his sleeve {but I forgot to take pics}!  He turned all of our behavior cards to red while we were at the holiday concert.  After lunch, we found him reading How the Grinch Stole Christmas to some stuffed friends in the library.  Later, we discovered that he had left us Grinch cookies and juice to enjoy!
It was such a fun day, and my kiddos had a BLAST!  Then this morning, we found our elf and the Grinch sharing a hug :)  So sweet:
We have a week left before Christmas break, and while we have lots of work to squeeze in, I promise to do one, big, FUN thing with my kiddos each day!  What do you have planned for this week?? :)

A Grinchy Freebie :)

After one of my pals threw a "Grinch Day" last Friday, I knew I had to have one, too!  I immediately started planning, and realized I had too many ideas to squeeze into one day... so I started today!!

I found an adorable Grinch craft idea at The First Grade Parade {and Cara found it here} so I recreated the pattern to use in my classroom.  I also had my kiddos complete a writing prompt.  Now our hallway has been "Grinched!"  Below are a couple examples from our display!

To make the Grinch grin I would...
...invite him to a tea party and tickle him.
A tea party?!  That makes me giggle!
...like to give him my cupcake and tell him funny jokes.
Forget the Grinch, I'll take the cupcake!!  hehe :)

Some of my littles didn't get a chance to finish today, but I thought these were particularly adorable Grinches:
They can finish up tomorrow!

If you're planning a Grinch Day and would like a copy of the writing prompt, you can grab it for free {HERE}.

The Grinch pattern is very simple to make... here is an image I spotted on Pinterest that will help you {I substituted five white circles for the hat's cuff}:

I have more Grinchy activities in store for my kiddos this week... stay tuned! :)

Last year's 11 in '11 was my second ever link-up :)
Let's get right into it!!
*My 12 Favorite Things in '12*

12. Favorite movie you watched:
This was a toughy for me.  I don't feel like there were that many good ones this year!! So I'm cheating a little and saying Beauty and the Beast 3D... because I DID drag my husband to go see that with me in January and it IS my favorite Disney movie, ever :D

11. Favorite TV series:
DEXTER!!
My husband and I finally started watching the DVDs, and I'm in LOVE.  But I'm only on season 5, so don't say a word!!

10. Favorite restaurant:
I love Texas Roadhouse.  The closest one to me is an hour away, so it's always a treat when I get to go.  I love the Chicken Critter Salad with extra honey mustard dressing!  YUM!

9. Favorite new thing you tried:
Blogging & opening up a TpT shop!  Okay, technically I started "trying" it in December of '11, but it was for less than a month, so I'm going to say this adventure really started in 2012!

8. Favorite gift you got:
For our one year anniversary, my husband bought me a second wedding band... a forever band :)  This iPhone picture really doesn't do my ring finger justice!!

7. Favorite thing you pinned:
Out of 1,087 pins and 696 likes, it was hard to choose!  So I took the easy way out and chose a funny:
I don't know why, but this one makes me giggle :)

6. Favorite blog post:
I am going to say my classroom reveal post!  I'm really proud of how my room turned out, and I got some great feedback and tons of views!

5. Best accomplishment:
Building my TpT shop!  And I couldn't have done it without you!!! :)

4. Favorite picture:
This is my Grandpa on his 89th birthday.  It's the last picture that I have of him... I love it.  He is TOO cute.  I miss him everyday!

3. Favorite memory:
Our family vacay to Myrtle Beach!

2. Goals for 2013:
Keep Calm and Carry On.
Spend more time with family & friends! :)
Continue to blog & create!!
